Slowly, slowly....

things are starting to get ready for our big day. Terri T. has offered help and so since she is the first one, I am giving her the chance to help in whatever way she feels she would like to.  The way I see it, if we want this get together to be a great day, we need to break it down into either parts of the day or tasks.

For tasks we could break it down to food/beverages, games/contests, kid crafts, displays/stories/Cousin night out. Do we want to do some larger project and donate it to some charity? Does anyone want to bring instruments/voices and have a bit of entertainment? Oh how my mind goes with all these ideas floating around.

For parts of the day do we want to make our main meal together a type of brunch with snacks for later or do we want to have coff ee, tea and juice going with maybe some baking earlier in the day. How many games should we do and do you all want them just for the little ones or for everyone? Myself, I think everyone could be involved in some kind of game/contest. Does Bowness Park have somewhere where baseball could be played? Do we want to have a crib tournament for some of the older members? I saw this neat crayola bubble machine that I think the kids would love. Do we want the games/contests early in the day, or in the afternoon? You all know what your kids/grandkids schedules so we need to know. As we have the site from 8:45 a.m. until whenever, we can make the day what I hope will be pleasing to every one.

So to you all who have found this blog, please pass the address around fleming1912.blogspot.com and lets get some input into this. Once we have some input, then we can divy up the tasks better.

Until next time - get your comments in and your thinking caps on.   Jean

Hello - is anyone out there????

Well, I see you are all really game for this reunion. LOL Anyway would love to here some ideas from you all - even if you don't like the idea of coming to one.

We were thinking of a Pot-Luck type lunch with maybe a few extra's thrown in. So if you want to let me know what you would like to bring that would be a start. By the way for the out of towners, I have some ideas for you as it will be hard for you to make something while sitting in a hotel room. Suggestions would be: buy paper plates, napkins, cutlery, or how about a watermelon, or fruit tray, or veggie tray or cheese tray. How about some of the canyd for the pinata? There are probably a million ideas so get your creative juices flowing. After all it is only less than four months away.

Happy creating

Jean

We're Off and Running

Hello All

Hope this winter weather isn't getting you all down too much. One thing we can all look forward to is the Fleming Reunion on Saturday July 9th at Bowness Park site #5 in Calgary. Please mark your calendars. By my count if every one came, we would have 61 there up from 50 at the last one.

Now we need to start planning, so put you requests/opinions in the comments section and I will try to regularly up date them in the blog. So far we would like to see some games and old fashion ones have come to mind. So we are thinking of sack races, three legged races, maybe a ballon toss or egg toss. What else would you like to see? We now have quite a few in the newborn to 6 year old range and so I think having some crafts for them to do would be good. They also have a huge playground there as well as the spray pool. Then in the 6 to 13 year old range we only have three in that age group, two boys and one girl. Any suggestions what they might like to see. In the 14 to 17 year old range I believe Aryele is the only one there, so maybe she will have to fit in with the 18 - 30 age group. For that age group I think all of the Marilyn and Doug Tryon kids fit there, as well as all the Terri Tryon kids and the Terry and Mary Langman kids. For the 31-45 age group there are a lot in there, and then there are the rest of us the 45+. So what do you want to see/do at the reunion. I have decided that maybe Friday night should be cousin night and maybe a dinner out or what ever all the first and second and maybe third cousins would like to do for their special night. We will try to come up with babysitters for the wee ones. Maybe a huge tent sleepover somewhere for all the little ones? I was thinking a pinuata (sp) would be fun for the kids. If you all just want to sit around and visit that would be great also. I thought it might be a good idea if Doug and Marilyn would bring their tent trailer for the day in case some of the old folks need a rest or for the little ones to have somewhere to go when they have the proverbial melt down.

Well that's all I have on my mind today. Have a great weekend and am looking forward to hearing your ideas.

Food will be on the agenda. What do you all want to see for food. We thought the cost of the reuion will be divided up so that it is affordable for all as many will need to stay in hotels etc. I will try to get a group rate at a hotel for everyone. We will come up with a cost once we know what direction this will take.
